I’m Holly Thibodeau, owner of Southern Maine Hearing, a locally operated, community-oriented practice. We are patient-focused and enjoy all of the assets that only a locally-owned company can provide: a customized hearing healthcare experience that provides the very best of hearing care with the most advanced technology in the industry coupled with excellent hearing healthcare services. We are here to help our community members hear the very best they can.
I am so blessed to work with such compassionate, energized, and highly skilled team members who are completely committed to helping you hear better. When I’m not helping patients, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two teenage children.
I love the ocean, cycling, and alpine & Nordic skiing. I feel so grateful to live in Maine so I can play outside with my family and friends in all four of our beautiful seasons!

Hello, my name is Jon Marquis. I started working at Southern Maine Hearing in December of 2021 after spending the previous 10 years as a Hearing Healthcare Provider. I enjoy working with patients and feel honored to be part of their journey to better hearing. The atmosphere is different here at Southern Maine Hearing. It’s a privilege to work with such a caring group of professionals who strive for excellence and patient satisfaction.
When I’m not in the office you can find me either on a baseball diamond or enjoying time with my two lovely daughters and beautiful wife, Melissa.
Lynn Plourde
Patient Care Coordinator
My name is Lynn and I am the Patient Care Coordinator at Southern Maine Hearing. I have a degree in Medical Assisting and have been in the Audiology field for approximately 5 years.
I enjoy working in a patient based clinic where every individual is treated with the utmost care and respect. It's a wonderful place to work with knowledgeable and caring providers who truly enjoy helping others.
My interests outside the office include boating with my husband, Paul, playing music with my grandchildren and spending time with family.

My name is Stephanie Smith. I joined the team at Southern Maine Hearing in late 2021 upon entering the ranks of the semi-retired. Prior to SMH, I held administrative roles in both healthcare and education fields for nearly 30 years. I love supporting people who care for people, which certainly makes for rewarding and fulfilling days at SMH.
Holly, Jon, and Lynn are each gifted and compassionate professionals, providing quality care to the greater Portland community. It is a pleasure and privilege to work alongside them to serve our clientele.

-Hearing test/evaluation - During your appointment, a series of tests will be conducted to evaluate your ability to hear specific tones and frequencies at different volumes, including: A hearing screening to measure your hearing at eight frequencies. A speech assessment to measure how well you hear and understand ordinary conversation at different volumes. A middle-ear evaluation to measure how your eardrum and hearing react to varying degrees of air pressure.
-Hearing Aid Selection - Once we have recorded the results of your hearing test on your audiogram, we will proceed to discuss various types of hearing aids that can assist you. To determine what will be the best device for you, we will look at your degree of hearing loss, your lifestyle, and your budget. Based on these factors we will help you choose a hearing aid that is the best match for you.

-Hearing Aid Sales and Financing - We understand hearing aids can be an investment, that’s why we offer Care Credit. When you purchase hearing aids from Southern Maine Hearing, you’ll receive more than just a device. Ask us about our financing options during your appointment.
-Repairs - Our hearing specialists are experts in hearing technology and can perform minor repairs in office. If something more comprehensive is wrong with your hearing aids we can send them to the manufacturer for you.

-Tinnitus Management - Tinnitus, commonly known as “ringing in the ears,” is the perception of sound when no external noise is present. we can perform a tinnitus test during your hearing evaluation.
