Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences

Growing up immersed in the family business alongside her father, Susan became well-versed in hearing aids from an early age. She is the daughter of Clarence J. Welsch, the late founder of Welsch Hearing Aid Company, and his wife, Ramona. Susan graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1980 and from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, along with minors in French and Business Administration.

At 16, Susan started working as a secretary/receptionist for her father at Welsch Hearing Aid Company, while also taking on a role as a bartender/waitress at Dick’s Club, the family-owned bar. Additionally, she gained experience working at Sunny Ridge, Sheboygan’s Park Department, Hearthside (a girls group home), and Southwestern Group Home for Boys in Platteville.

Susan’s full-time career at Welsch Hearing Aid Company began in December 1984, when she took on the role of Office Manager. By March 5, 1985, she had become a State Licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist. In 1994, she earned her Board Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences.

Susan is committed to staying informed about new developments in the hearing industry, which is why she is an active member of both the Wisconsin Alliance of Hearing Professionals and the International Hearing Society. Since 1994, she has accumulated over 1,500 hours of continuing education.

Outside of work, Susan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as sewing and embroidery.
