Advanced Hearing & Balance Specialists - St George

Dr. Lance Greer is a co-owner of Advanced Hearing & Balance Specialists and a licensed audiologist.  He earned his master’s degree from Brigham Young University and a doctorate from the PCO School of Audiology. Dr. Greer developed the newborn hearing screening program at DRMC and serves as its director. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.  

Lance, his wife Shannon and their 5 children love living in Southern Utah and have grown their roots deep with the St. George and surrounding community by being involved with their children’s school and sporting activities, volunteering in community events and serving within the church.

Dr. Heather A. Smith earned her Doctor of Audiology degree in 2018 from Idaho State University and completed her residency at St. Luke’s Elks Hearing and Balance in Idaho with a special emphasis on balance assessments and auditory brainstem response evaluation and interpretation. She enjoys working  with patients of all ages and has a keen interest in balance assessments and auditory brainstem response evaluation and interpretation. 

Dr. Thiede is a graduate of Utah State University where she completed her Bachelor of Science in communicative disorders and deaf education, eventually moving on to earn her Doctor of Audiology.

What led her to become an audiologist was her passion for working with the deaf and hard-of-hearing community She then had her first externship at Bridgeland Audiology in Logan, Utah. Dr. Thiede now specializes in adult hearing aids and diagnostics.

Being proficient in American Sign Language helps her to better communicate with patients who may have severe hearing loss.

Dr. Thiede has traveled as far as El Salvador and the Dominican Republic to help fit people with hearing aids. In her spare time, Dr. Thiede enjoys hanging out with her family and dog, crafting, and listening to true crime podcasts.

Dr. Rachael Gehmlich is delighted to be back in sunny Southern Utah. She completed her undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders at Brigham Young University, and subsequently earned her Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Utah. Her graduate education includes clinical training at Intermountain Medical Center, Utah Ear Institute, Rocky Mountain Hearing and Balance, the University of Utah Speech Language Hearing Clinic, and Granite School District.

Dr. Gehmlich finds joy in creating and maintaining friendships with patients while shedding light on the importance and value of hearing healthcare. She is passionate about evaluating patients who are feeling dizzy or imbalanced and providing treatment plans for faster recovery.

Outside of work, her hobbies include quilting, baking, the NBA, Audis, friends, and going on adventures with her four year-old son.
