As a fellow Utahn, Dr. Liz Hankins attended Utah State University where her undergraduate studies focused on communicative disorders and deaf education. Shortly after, she received her doctorate in audiology in 2012. She has a broad scope of experience, including diagnostic testing for pediatric and adult populations, vestibular assessments, auditory-verbal therapy, and cochlear implants.
As the director of audiology at House of Hearing, she oversees diagnostic and hearing aid clinics in the ENT offices and supervises the resident and doctoral students that work in the clinic. The job is difficult, but she is extremely gratified by the results the team can deliver and is always supporting her fellow teammates wherever she can.

“We have been working with Jenna. She is willing to take the time to make sure everything is done right and she meets my needs. She is very helpful, kind, and patient. She is also extremely knowledgeable about the cochlear implants and the programs that are offered. We are very happy we have been working with her and also Dr. Slattery. They are excellent. ”

“I lost one of my hearing aids during a trial period. Instead of charging me their cost, the owner instructed the employee to charge me the full price ($3500) for the one lost hearing aid even though that price is usually negotiated lower and it also includes aftercare such as cleanings, programming of device, frequent testing of hearing, refurbishing of devices, etc. Beware...anyone who seeks to benefit from someones misfortune is not someone I want to do business with. ”

Official Response from House of Hearing - Draper:
“Dear William,
We appreciate your feedback, we welcome opportunity for improvement. I’m sorry that your hearing aid was lost and that you feel the contracted price for your hearing aid is unfair. An option you have is to purchase a replacement hearing aid since the hearing aid is under warranty. I apologize if this does not seem like the best option for you. If you’d like, please revisit any of our offices to discuss your options going forward. We wish you well.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Anderson, Manager

“My appointment went very well. We skipped the test and the sales pitch because I had done it before. We talked prices and what quality would work best for me. I appreciated that very much.”

“I went in for an appointment to see what was available since it had been 3 years since I had purchased my current aides. Maggie was great! Following a hearing test update, she took the time to explain to me all of my options and how far the technology had come over the last 3 years. She listened to my concerns and wants, explaining the best approach to compensate for my hearing loss. Based on her evaluation and recommendations, I selected an IIC which I don't think she was really excited about my selection, as it was new on the market and presented an unique design approach. While I'm waiting for the new aides to come in, she fitted me with a set of Lyric devices to try and compare them to the devices I selected. She was great during the entire process allowing me to express my desires and never pushing one model or make over others except for those that wouldn't meet my needs. I would recommend House of Hearing to others looking for assistance in hearing.”

“I have had hearing aids for quite a few years. I knew technology had changed and there were things with my old hearing aids that i was not pleased with. So, I set out to find what was on the market. I checked to see what insurance would cover and was not satisfied with the product or service of the only hearing aids that insurance would cover. My old hearing aids came from House of Hearing, so I went to them and tried one of their products. The hearing aid was amazing and corrected the things that my old hearing aids were unable to correct. I had a trial period and during that period worked closely to get the aids tuned to my specification. The service I have received from House of Hearing in the past and now with my new aids, has been very professional and on my schedule. Thanks to the staff at Draper Utah. ”

“News of my hearing loss in my right ear came early in the 1965 when I had to take a hearing test before I graduated in the Elementary Education School in order to get my teaching certificate, but the only problem I had was talking on the phone with my right ear, so I didn't do anything about it and was able to graduate anyway. Then we took a job in Buenos Aires.
After returning home I had to take another hearing test to get my teaching certificate. My hearing loss was a little bit more, so I went to several audiologists, and ordered some hearing aids from a catalog--until I had 4 sets of hearing aids and none of them seemed to work for me.
I saw an ad for hearing aids from "The House of Hearing," so since it was a free test, I thought, "well what's the hurt?" and I went. It was a great experience with Liz Hankins. She was knowledgeable and so friendly, and always happy with us. She has kept us up with all the new ways to improve our hearing, and I would certainly recommend her and her whole team at House of Hearing any time to anybody.

“I have never known a day of good hearing my whole life long. I have had hearing aids before but wasn't satisfied with them at all. But as I have gotten older with my ability it is interfering with my ability to function and perform my duties at work, at home, pretty much every aspect of my life. My initial intent was to go in and see what options were available. I was fitted with a pair of hearing aids and for the first time in my life I was hearing things I have never heard before. I know they are expensive and my insurance won't even cover hearing aids because they are considered cosmetic. Thought, well, if hearing aids are cosmetic what are eye glasses? Still HOH made it possible for me to get a pair of hearing aids and now I am functioning so much better. Better than I thought I ever would. Thank You HOH. ”

“I started with the ENT Hearing Center seeking an answer to a vertigo problem and in the process was tested for the status of my hearing. Having been previously tested I learned that I was now at a point that I would benefit from hearing aids. Dr. Bryan Tagge, a personal friend, recommended Dr. Slattery as one of the very best at solving vertigo issues. He and his PA, Natalie were fantastic at solving my BPPV vertigo. It is hard to express how grateful I am to not be constantly dizzy.
Then we started on the hearing issues. Fiona Hayes and Jeena Floreani worked with me for an extended period of time to get the perfect solution for my hearing challenges. I greatly appreciated the fact that I was able to demo a pair of aids for multiple weeks, testing them in various settings, to ensure I would be successful with the final result. Their patience with my many questions on both the day to day experience of wearing aids but also on the technical side of things was amazing. ”

“When I called in to make the appointment I ask the girl if these hearing aids advertised were for severe hearing loss, and was told "YES". When I got there and had the hearing test then I was told "NO" those wouldn't work for me. I have prayed about my hearing and felt this was an answer to my prayer. I was shown a page with other hearing aids on it, but they were more like the ones I've always had. I was disappointed!”

“I originally went to House of Hearing for treatment for vertigo. That was very successful and it led to a hearing test that identified my hearing deficiency. The staff including the physical therapist who taught me exercises to help me improve my balance were both skilled and professional. I was fitted for hearing aids that both met my needs to improve my social involvement, but all was sensitive to my budget. I have returned to House of Hearing to both check on my hearing aids and to help me learn to get the most out of them. My wife and I have recommended the House of Hearing to two of our friends who have also be very satisfied with their experience with the company. When my hearing aids were provided to me, my wife and I were driving along the street and she said to me, "Can you hear me now, Old Man." I was delighted that I could hear her so clearly even over the engine and street noise that I repeated what she had said to me, then we both laughed. I highly recommend House of Hearing to anyone who has hearing problems, vertigo and balance problems. I feel quite sure they will be satisfied. JS”

“My husband would not hear what I was saying even after I repeated it several times; the tv was turned almost loud enough for the neighbors to hear; and especially he could not hear in the van. It was time to have his hearing checked; and he did need hearing aids.
I can't say enough about how wonderful the staff has been. They've explained things very clearly to us. They always are very professional but also very friendly.
They had just put his aids in, and we were out in the van leaving. I asked him in a normal voice "Can you hear me, old man". He answered "Yes, I can hear you" We were asked later why I hadn't said "I love you?" I say that all the time. I was checking to see if he could hear me.
We were so impressed that we recommended The House of Hearing to two friends. Each of them are now patients of The House of Hearing.
They are so good to remind us if we have an appointment with them. They will also have us come right in if there is a problem. They keep very close contact with us to make sure his aids are always doing their job.”
