Dr. Gretchen Calachan, Au.D., earned her Doctorate of Audiology from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington, Seattle; she is a licensed Dispensing Audiologist in Arizona; a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA); and a member of the American Cochlear Implant Alliance (ACIA) and American Auditory Society (AAS).

She completed her fourth-year clinical externship with the Washington University School of Medicine, which is one of the most active cochlear implant centers nationwide. Dr. Calachan has extensive experience working with cochlear implant patients for pre-operative evaluation, counseling, device activation, and follow-up programming. She has worked with patients of every age group, with a particular focus on patients 18+.

Since joining AOC, she has provided cochlear implant programming and auditory habilitation services for patients at our Phoenix office. She performs hearing evaluations for adults and pediatrics, vestibular assessments for adults, and comprehensive care for hearing aids and bone conduction hearing devices.

Dr. Calachan is passionate about hearing care accessibility and enjoys being present with patients throughout their journey to improve hearing. She has first-hand experience with hearing impairment as both her mother and uncle have had hearing loss since young adulthood. Their experiences inspired her to go into the field of audiology.

Dr. Calachan enjoys exploring the beautiful state of Arizona through hiking and travelling.
