“Friendly, helpful staff but the locked front door seemed a bit unfriendly. I guess it's for safety from those west side hooligans! Dr. Herholtz is very knowledgeable and quite professional. Explained the ins and outs of my hearing situation and provided three possible solutions to my need for hearing aids based on the results of his comprehensive hearing tests. I chose the solution that was in the middle of the cost spectrum (a pair of like new Oticon demo hearing aids with rechargeable batteries that were very similar to the new ones my wife had purchased from Dr. Herholtz a few months earlier) because I wasn't necessarily convinced I would be willing to use them every day. Got a 1 year warranty with new batteries, new speakers (the part that fits inside the ear), and a charging cradle for night time charging. Wore the hearing aids everyday for two weeks then went back for a follow-up appointment to make a couple of adjustments to the gain profile and limiting level in a few of the frequency bands. Since I first got the hearing aids I hear things I haven't heard since I was 21 years old (hearing damage from noisy construction work and normal hearing loss due to aging) and in some cases I hear things I would rather not hear! In retrospect I should have done this years ago. I am extremely please with the performance and cost of the hearing aids Dr. Herholtz fitted me with. Hopefully they will last well beyond the warranty period! I would strongly recommend using Dr. Herholtz for your hearing aid requirements and if you do see Dr. Herholtz tell him Howard sent you. As an aside: This is one of only a very few reviews I have ever written for anybody or any product, mainly because my expectation of professionals and the products they sell is extremely high and I find that too often my satisfaction level doesn't match my expectation. That may seem a bit unfair but considering the cost of their services and the products they sell it doesn't seem out of line to me. So far Dr. Herholtz and the Oticon hearing aids he sold me have met my expectation. Hopefully that won't change! ”
