Merit Hearing - Jefferson

“I started in Jefferson with AJ (Dr. Keiner) where I purchased my first pair of hearing aids. I found his price was less than half of what was offered in my county with less programs. There is a HUGE difference between a dispenser and a doctor of Audiology. AJ took my test, retested and tested areas not previously tested. I have RSHL, which is genetic. I was very happy when I left with being able to hear birds and other sounds I had not been able to for years. Then a couple years later when Unitron offered an upgrade in hearing aids. I saw AJ in Omaha during covid. AJ retested me and reprogrammed the new hearing aids. Since I live a couple hours away AJ gave me extra leads in case something happened I could switch them out, new domes, filters, etc. This past Monday they made it where I could see Dr. Jeff in Jefferson as I needed an adjustment, then found out the left hearing aid needed to be sent in for repairs, I knew things were just not right. He ,did a complete hearing test, reprogrammed them, etc. They have all the equipment to do the complete test. They don't rely on the program suggested by the hearing tests results, those do not work for my hearing loss. I can see why people can become frustrated if they don't have the typical hearing loss. The offices were clean, the hearing booths were nice. They are easy to make contact with and will do everything to see you timely. For me it was the same day, I had been putting it off. I was driving my husband crazy with the constant "what" lately. They are very professional, knowledgeable on various types of hearing loss, hearing aids, testing, etc.. They off a variety of hearing aids. I know people talk of the expense, but they were by far the cheapest as they want everyone to be able to hear. I wish they would have been in business when my parents were alive and going thru test after test and having to keep purchasing knew ones that cost $5000 for the low end hearing aids. Half the time my Dad's were in his pocket as they were not programmed right. I feel bad now that I didn't take them some place else. I go back on July 1st and expect to pick up the repaired hearing aid. They take considerable time explaining things, testing and there is never a rush to get you out the door. This money is well spent because my hearing effects so much including my balance. Spend the money it is well worth is, they will put you in the right hearing aid, not the most expensive ones. ”
