“I can honestly say the Dr. Means saved my life. My tinnitus was so severe that I was contemplating suicide. The constant high pitched buzz was maddening. I didn't think I could go on any longer. Work was becoming impossible. I couldn't escape the sound - it engulfed me. As a physician myself, I know that there is no cure for tinnitus so I was growing hopeless. Dr. Brooke Means was very compassionate and understanding. She did a thorough ear exam and found that I had hearing loss at the high end of the spectrum. She fitting me for hearing aides that have noise background to compete with the tinnitus plus augmenting my hearing in the high ranges. It was an immediate cure. “Amazing! My hearing loss was deficient in 80% of the higher frequency sound waves and I did not know it. Dr. Brooke Means told me the ringing in my ears was from my brain trying to compensate for these high frequency sound waves which my ears could not hear. Dr. Means was absolutely right. After she did the hearing exam and programing the Oticon hearing aids, I can hear those sounds I could not hear before. The ringing in my ears has gone away. These Oticon hearing aids are not merely increasing the sound volume, but increasing the high frequency sound waves I could not hear before and balances out all around hearing.
